Heavy Metal Horror Films

I've been meaning to post this for ages,
Since Van Hell and I are huge fans of this tiny genre of films i was wondering what people's thoughts are on these films and if people know some others out there.

Trick Or Treat - The all time best in my opinion , Just a great 80's Rock Horror flick. This has an amazing soundtrack from Fastway. And with Gene Simmons , Skippy from Family Ties and Ozzy in it you can't go wrong

Black Roses - I watched this last night again, it's terrible but i love it, and the soundtrack is killer!!!!

Shock Em Dead - Great for shred heads as it has lots of Nitro guitarist Michael Angelo as the double for the main star of the film, again a pretty terrible film but i still cant help but love it.

Rocktober Blood - Now this is bad, i'm not a big fan of this one. I had trouble sitting through it.
however i think Van Hell thought it was ok.

Rock N Roll Nightmare - I don't even remember this one, i think Van Hell lent it to me.

Blood Tracks -I thought this was pretty funny/cool plus the fact that it has all the guys from the Swedish rock band "Easy Action" including Zinny Zan before he was in Kingpin/Shotgun Messiah is very cool. Cool music in it. Including some unrealesed easy action tracks from what i understand.

Edge Of Hell - I have never seen this, if anyone has a copy I'd love to see it please let me know. I beleive this has 80's heavy metal dude "Thor" in it.

I'm sure i've forgotten some,
Rock On.
Jules.

I love heavy metal horror films!!

I have Trick Or Treat, Black Roses & Rocktober Blood on video (plus Trick Or Treat on DVD too and the soundtrack on vinyl & CD, love it!).

Trick Or Treat is BY FAR my favourite. Great '80s horror flick, and also a great teenage heavy metal flick about a picked on high school metalhead turning the tables! And as Jules said, how can you go wrong when the main character is played by Skippy from Family Ties, it has Gene as the radio DJ and Ozzy Osbourne in the funniest cameo role ever!

Black Roses is another that I really like... it is a bad film but I love it. And the songs in it with the King Kobra members are SO GOOD! So is the classic Lizzy Borden track!

Rocktober Blood I've seen a few times and yet I can't even remember it very well... haha! I do remember there was a cool scene at a concert though! I should re-watch it!

Shock 'Em Dead I saw when Julian showed me and I loved it! That geek looks UNREAL when he transforms, and the Michael Angelo soundtrack is outrageous! If you're put off by mega low budget z-grade production values though, it's probably not for you! Luckily I revel in that stuff though!

There's another one I've seen that is kinda a heavy metal horror film, Slumber Party Massacre II where these girls having a slumber party somehow invite some supernatural guitar weilding rock star into their bedroom who's trying to kill them with a guitar that has a massive drill on the end of it! It was a crap film though, and didn't even have cool music to save it...

Not a horror film, but when I hired Death Wish 5 there was a trailer at the start for a movie called Angel 4: Assault With A Deadly Weapon. I'm dying to see it now, its about a chick cop who goes undercover as a groupie in the LA hair metal scene to get evidence against the singer of a metal band they suspect is behind all these murders.... and the trailer was just packed with long hair, leather, guitars, groupies, strippers and crankin' 80s metal!!!

By the way Jules, Edge Of Hell is Rock & Roll Nightmare. They're the same movie, Edge Of Hell is the alternate title.

Indeed I would need a whole forum to discuss this most incredible of genre's. When I've got a spare hour or ten, I'll list some of the others. Hey Trashman, of course I have that Angel movie you were mentioning, I think you are going to dig it! When are we gonna make our own Heavy Metal Horror, you know we need too! The Ragman rules!

I saw the actor who played Sammi Curr in "Trick Or Treat" in the film "A Chorus Line" the other night when I was flicking through channels, he was a hard to recognise at first without the long hair. But it was him , he was spotring a mullet.

"We will bring you Down!"- Sammi Curr

Wes Craven's Shocker is sure to be up there. Some great deaths and it spawned a great soundtrack.

Maximum Overdrive was a classic when i was younger. The dude getting hit by the cans coming out of the coke machine was a pisser.

And lastly, Return Of The Living Dead Part 2 if only for the fact Leatherwolf and Anthrax were on the soundtrack.

Cheers
